Training Wagon (2013–2020)
Training Wagon was an early brand created by Matthew Clements-Wheeler to provide practical, experience-led training and support for school leaders and school business professionals across the UK.
At the time, Matthew was working extensively across the sector, including national roles and close involvement with professional networks such as the Institute of School Business Leadership. Alongside a trusted group of experienced colleagues, Training Wagon supported thousands of leaders through conferences, local networks, and in-school delivery.
Our team really enjoys sharing our knowledge and mentoring others. We have helped a number of new entrants to the school business management profession find their feet and learn their craft.
The work ranged from short briefings and bite-size sessions to full training days and INSET, covering areas such as financial management, governance, staffing, organisational effectiveness and school improvement. Everything was grounded in real, current practice and designed to be immediately useful.
What mattered most, however, was the approach. Training Wagon was built on a simple belief: that there is already considerable wisdom within the system. The role of good training is not to impose answers from outside, but to help leaders reflect on their own context, test their thinking, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
That belief continues to underpin Matthew’s work today through MCW Mastery | Clarity | Wisdom Ltd, although the focus has since evolved towards leadership consultancy, strategic advice, governance, internal scrutiny and executive support in addition to the initial operational services offer.
